My Inspiration

My name is Teresa Takeuchi. I’m a fourth-generation Japanese Canadian from Richmond BC. I graduated from Emily Carr University of Art and Design in 2000.  I returned to Vancouver after living in Vienna, Austria for 7 years and currently reside in the lower mainland.  I am teaching and teching in Surrey BC.

My Inspiration

I typically draw inspiration from food and my environment. I want my art reflects my need to express myself. When I work with clay, I do not want to predefine who I am or what I do. I start with a general concept and as I work, then it changes and evolves with my distracted personality. Like any process it takes continuous repetition and redefining

Sepia decals made from photocopies, and single lithography type photocopies. I want the image to have its own mind like the clay. The image doesn’t have to be perfect, it can be lighter or darker or move with the glaze.
